The Ann Arbor College of Martial Arts (A2CoMA) was founded by the Godai Ninpo Association, a student organization at the University of Michigan. Our student group existed on the U of M campus for six years, at which point it had expanded to such a size that the University could no longer accommodate us. Instead of simply renting a space for our personal training off campus, we decided to open a commercial school thereby giving back to the community by sharing our training with people of the Ann Arbor and surrounding area.

The A2CoMA is dedicated to providing a place of personal wellness and learning for those seeking self-mastery. From children's programs to our adult self-defense and fitness programs, we are committed to providing premier services in every field.

Our Philosophy

We believe our students deserve to learn from qualified martial arts leaders who have a track record of personal success, and a proven history of developing quality students and instructors.

Our instructors are hand-selected to ensure that we provide our students with the best quality individuals. We not only look for a high level of competency in their training, but we also seek out people who are positive role models within the community. Our instructors are passionate and dedicated teaching professionals who are proud to share their knowledge of our self-defense curriculum.

In order to receive certification, our instructors are extensively trained in both the martial arts and life skills. Once certified, they are required to continue their training to remain up-to-date with the most effective self-defense techniques, exercise, and instructional methods. Their continued training is our personal way of ensuring that every student will receive the best self-defense training.

The instructors at the Ann Arbor College of Martial Arts are experts in self-protection and will provide their students with unrivaled skill in the art of self-defense.
